It means Good News! So it means
“Good News! We can be saved from our sins! Jesus paid the price we can be
forgiven! We get a fresh start!”
Originally the word came from an Old
English term: God-spell which meant
“Good tidings”. The original Greek it is translated from says “good message”. So
the “Gospel according to St. Mark” means “the Good news according to Mark” or the “Good Message” according to Mark.
